When you are visiting Naples and want to take advantage of watching a beautiful sunset over the Gulf of Mexico, take a sunset cruise on the Sweet Liberty. Venita and I have been on the catamaran twice and it was enchanting both times, could have been the company.
There are other sunset cruises that we haven't tried which are supposed to be good and some include dinner however Venita and I wanted the sailing experience. It's totally casual. If you are not wearing shorts, you are over dressed. You can bring your own cooler with anything you want to drink. We had a bottle of wine and some cheese and crackers and it tastes much better on a sailboat.
The cruise leaves at different times depending on what time sunset is that day so it's best to call for times and definitely make a reservation. It's easy to find and if you can't find street parking near the docks, there is a free parking lot one block north on a side street.
The cruise starts with an hour tour of Naples Bay and the multi million dollar mansions lining the bay. I particularly like the one where the guy's yacht was so big it was blocking his view so he bought the place next to him to keep the boat next door. After you get through the bay and see some dolphins and bald eagles which nest in the area, you go out into the gulf and they put up the sails, turn on the rock and roll and sail until the sun goes down.
This is a must for those of you who want a real Florida vacation sunset experience.
